Safeguarding & Child Protection
St. Peter's CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and we expect all staff and volunteers working in our school to share this commitment.
We have adopted the WSCC Model Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy for Schools and accompanying handbook. In the handbook are listed a number of of other policies and procedures, all of which contribute to ensuring that safeguarding and child protection is of paramount importance at St Peter's. Our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy can be viewed below.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that these concerns are discussed with parents and carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare. All adults working with children in our school are required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
We actively support the Prevent Duty, which requires all education providers ‘to help prevent the risk of people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism’, and Operation Encompass.
Our Designated Safeguard Lead (DSL) is Mr Jamie Savage (Executive Headteacher) and our Deputy DSLs are Mrs Gemma Hall (Head of School) and Mrs Annie Skouros (Senior Teacher). Our Safeguarding Lead Governor is Mrs Francesca Keynton (Co-opted Governor).
