Awesome Arctic
Greenfinch and Cuckoo classes welcomed the Travelling Natural History Museum to St. Peter’s for an exciting exploration of the Awesome Arctic. The team brought along some fantastic models and artefacts, including life-sized representations of an Arctic wolf and a polar bear, which captivated the children’s imaginations.
The children participated in hands-on activities that offered fascinating insights into the animals, weather, and environment of both the Arctic and Antarctic. One highlight was a demonstration using a leaf blower, which allowed the children to experience the sensation of 200 mile-an-hour Antarctic winds!
Back in the classroom, the children got creative by making their own penguins and polar bears using Plaster of Paris. It was a fantastic day of learning and fun, bringing the wonders of the polar regions to life.
