Art & Design
At St. Peter’s we inspire a passion for learning through creative exploration in art and design.
Our art and design curriculum introduces children to a range of artists, cultures, and historical art, including that of local artists. Learners explore various mediums, developing essential artistic skills and fostering a lifelong love of art. We aim to unlock each child’s unique creative potential through an immersive, themed curriculum where art plays a central role. Through the teaching of art and design, students will appreciate diverse artistic traditions, foster creativity, develop critical thinking and explore visual communication as they learn to express themselves confidently.
To support the teaching of art and design, sticky knowledge, key skills and key vocabulary have been mapped out across the different year groups for the disciplines of: drawing; colour; painting; sculpture; printing; and collage. This can be downloaded below. Where appropriate, key artists are introduced every term and this information can be found on the curriculum documents relating to a specific class.
